Eye of Hawk Book Review

Eye of Hawk

Why do you want to punish yourself so badly?
Everybody makes mistakes, but if your intentions were pure, why do you see yourself as such evil?

Synopsis

Valeri must fulfill three promises, but which one will she choose first?

Alone and desolate, Valeri plots her revenge against the high priestesses who keep her from returning home; returning to her sister, Amelia. Fueled by rage and grief, she learns more about her powers with the guidance of her ancestors. But is their advice all it seems?

To protect her own life and those she holds dear, Valeri explores dark but powerful rituals and is not prepared for the consequences. Pulled in multiple directions, Valeri must save everyone - and herself - as the demons begin to threaten her world.

Review

Book 2 of Blanka H. Madow’s Precious Stones series, Eye of Hawk continues Valeri’s journey as she becomes the witch she was always meant to be. Valeri’s quest for revenge and her longing to reunite with her sister, Amelia, drive the plot forward with intensity. The book goes deeper into Valeri’s magical abilities, making for an engaging and suspenseful read. The storytelling is vivid and brings the world of demons and ancient powers to life. As the stakes rise, Valeri faces challenges that keep readers on edge, and the story retains a touch of darkness while exploring the complexity of wielding power.

Other tropes include moral greyness, a marriage of convenience, only one bed, fated lovers, betrayal, spells, and bonds. I particularly enjoyed the male main character’s (MMC) point of view (POV). Finally, while the plot is captivating, and the pacing good throughout the book, readers should be prepared for yet another cliffhanger ending that will leave them eager for the next installment! Eye of Hawk is a solid addition to the Precious Stones series, offering intrigue, magic, and memorable characters. This is also a great read for fans of slow-burn romances. I couldn’t wait to start the next book!

Publication date was 28 November 2022.
