August 2024 Wrap-Up
August was all about ARCs and historical romances, with a spattering of other genres such as a variety of fantasies and retellings, true crime, and science fiction! Can you tell I’m a mood reader?

It’s my birthday month! Summer may be winding down, but as we head into the cozy months of fall, a fresh crop of exciting new releases is just around the corner. Mark your calendars and get ready to add some amazing new stories to your reading list!
With tropes such as enemies to lovers, forced proximity, he’s her boss, she’s a secret heiress, and she (surprisingly) falls (begrudgingly) first, there’s a lot to like about Maddison Michaels’ The Heiress Masquerade. Aimee’s determination to prove herself in a man’s world is both admirable and relatable, and the tension between her and Harrison—both romantic and otherwise—is well-executed.
Cleo White’s Second Edition is a beautiful love story with a delightful blend of charm, sensuality, and emotional depth. The idyllic setting, excellent character development, symbolism, and a love story that feels both real and enchanting make it a must-read for fans of true love, hope, second chance romances, and well-done age gaps.
Crimson Stained Catalyst by Rebecca Ethington is an incredible start to The Last Fae King series. The story pulls you into a world of fae and power-wielding humans (unlike any you’ve experienced before), magic, and multidimensional characters that you’ll quickly get hooked on. This book is a MUST-READ.
This month was filled with ARCs, editing, and finishing up my re-read of Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series before moving on to her Crescent City series! There were a LOT of good reads this month, including Olena Nikitin’s Oath of Betrayal, Rebecca Ethington’s Crimson Stained Catalyst, and more!
August is packed with exciting new book releases, perfect for rounding out your summer reading list. Here are some of the most anticipated titles hitting the shelves in August 2024.
Book 2 of the Seasons of Fae series, Land of Ice and Intrigue takes place a month after the events of the first book. The story centers on Lady Piris Volesion, who has hidden her fearsome powers most of her life, and Prince Jarok Borau of the Winterlands, known for his flippant mask that hides his feelings and responsibilities.
We continue on with another re-read of yet another of Sarah J. Maas’ amazing series this June – Throne of Glass! Other titles read this month include Hall of Mirrors by John Copenhaver and Oath of Betrayal by Olena Nikitin.
As summer heats up, July brings with it not only scorching temperatures but also a hot lineup of new book releases. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying a staycation at home, these upcoming releases are perfect companions for your summer adventures.
Hall of Mirrors by John Copenhaver is a gripping historical mystery set in 1950’s McCarthy-era Washington, D.C. that follows Lionel Kane’s quest to uncover the truth behind his partner’s suspicious death. With multiple perspectives from complex characters, vivid period details, and a compelling narrative, it captures the tension and social injustices of the time.
May was full of contemporary romances, namely the Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang and the Playing for Keeps series by Becka Mack. A re-read of Sarah J. Maas’ ACOTAR series was also a feature this month, along with a couple of other books. Take a peek!
