The Sinner by Marni Mann, the third book in the Spade Hotel series, had a lot of potential, but for me, it didn’t fully deliver. The insta-love felt shallow, the characters lacked depth, and the conflict around the ex-boyfriend was underexplored. That said, if you’re here purely for the steam, you might have a good time with this one!
August was all about ARCs and historical romances, with a spattering of other genres such as a variety of fantasies and retellings, true crime, and science fiction! Can you tell I’m a mood reader?
Cleo White’s Second Edition is a beautiful love story with a delightful blend of charm, sensuality, and emotional depth. The idyllic setting, excellent character development, symbolism, and a love story that feels both real and enchanting make it a must-read for fans of true love, hope, second chance romances, and well-done age gaps.
May was full of contemporary romances, namely the Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang and the Playing for Keeps series by Becka Mack. A re-read of Sarah J. Maas’ ACOTAR series was also a feature this month, along with a couple of other books. Take a peek!
April brought us an array of worlds, from realms marked by divine trials to the ballrooms of Regency London. Among them, “Worthy of Fate” by A.N. Caudle stood out as our favorite read of the month, while “Romancing Mister Bridgerton” by Julia Quinn was a nice re-read in anticipation of Bridgerton Season 3!
