Editing Process

In addition to in-line comments on the manuscript, a report will be provided with:

  • Editorial letter
  • (Developmental Editing) General feedback on various aspects of your work, including but not limited to plot coherence, character development, pacing, and overall engagement, and/or specific feedback requested.
  • (Copyediting) Style sheet personalized to your manuscript.
  • Memorable quotes curated from the manuscript due to their profound impact, resonance, or unique ability to encapsulate key themes, emotions, or pivotal moments within the narrative or writing to serve as compelling excerpts that showcase the essence and depth of your story or text.

Review Process

In general, I work through ARC requests according to desired review dates and/or publication dates; however, because I am a mood reader, if there is a particular book I am more interested in reading, and there is time, I may read and review that one before the next one on my schedule.

Reviews are posted on this website, Goodreads, Amazon, TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook. If an ARC is received from a specific website, or the book is available on a specific website (e.g., NetGalley, BookBub, BookSirens, etc.) and I am aware of it, I will also post my review there. If an ARC request is accepted, reviews will always be posted by, or on, the desired date. The only (rare) exceptions to this are:

  • Emergencies – if an emergency occurs (I am a disabled veteran with a medically complex child so there may be times when medical emergencies occur with either myself or my child, for example). If an emergency prevents me from posting the review on the desired date, I will reach out to the author and/or publisher as soon as possible and provide an updated expected post date.
  • Issues with the Book – I only ever sign up for or agree to ARCs for books that I believe I’d truly love and could recommend, but very rarely, I may be unable to complete a book (e.g., I end up not “clicking” with it, readability issues, etc.). If there is an issue with the book, I will reach out to the author and/or publisher as soon as possible and provide an explanation.

Important Notes

  • Obligation – Accepting an ARC request does not guarantee a review; however, I will almost always provide a review. Please see above for further information.
  • Respect for Intellectual Property – I handle ARCs with utmost care and confidentiality. The book provided is for review purposes only and will not be shared or distributed without permission.
  • If I complete a review far in advance of a book’s publication date, I will post my review on this website and social media (e.g., Goodreads, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc.) upon completion, but will wait until the publication date, or shortly thereafter, to post my review on sellers’ websites (e.g., Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, etc.).
  • Unfavorable Reviews – I strive to write honest and (as much as possible) objective reviews. However, if I complete a review and it is less than favorable (i.e., less than 3 stars), I will not tag the author in my review.
